Bushboard
Tiny Stuff — Surface pattern design -Early years washroom cubicle range for calmer environments
Background
The quality and durability of Bushboard washrooms were preferred by architects and interior designers.
New guidance for the specification of early-years cubicles considered overcoming children’s psychological barriers to toileting and washroom hygiene.
Lucid’s team won a competitive tender process to engage children and carers by making the washroom experience positive.
Objectives included:
Calmer, child-friendly visual approaches.
Repeating surface patterns appropriate for use cut in different orientations, sizes, and shapes.
Applicability to a range of material substrates to suit diverse applications.
Soft shape options for enhanced safety.
Discovery
Collaborating with Bushboard’s production and marketing teams, carers, and children, Lucid’s designers defined structural parameters and visual themes to guide ideas development.
Design
During the process of creating multiple surface pattern design options, we collaborated with specifiers, kids, and carers to narrow down to a short list of designs that have positive associations and practical applications.
